Don't turn your back on Tibet
In March 2008, knowing the eyes of the world were on China in the run up to the Olympics, thousands of ordinary Tibetans made a courageous stand for freedom, taking to the streets in protest. The Chinese government's response was to throw all journalists and foreigners out of Tibet and bring in tens of thousands of troops to quash all demonstrations and hide the truth abbout Tibet from the critical eyes of the world.

There were around 150 Tibetan  political prisoners before the March uprising; now the number is unknown.

Although China is a signatory of the UN Declaration of Human Rights abuses of fundamental rights abound in occupied Tibet.

Restrictions on freedom of religion and educational opportunities are only part of the assaults on Tibetan culture and society. 

Economy & environment
The so-called economic boom in Tibet is of negligible benefit to Tibetans and has an incalculable cost to their environment.

China’s economic clout means few national and international government bodies are willing to take up the cause of Tibet.
