UCS 08/07/06: Wen Jiabao's visit to the UK

China's Premier, Wen Jiabao, to visit the UK

(Urgent action is needed before 12 September 2006)

Free Tibet Campaign has learned that Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, is to visit London early next week for annual talks held between the governments of Britain and China. Precise details of the visit are still to be announced by Downing Street.

Under Tony Blair, the British Government has assiduously sought to strengthen its commercial ties with China whilst failing to put meaningful public pressure on the Chinese leadership over its dire human rights record. As a result there have been no public statements of concern over the situation in Tibet by the Prime Minister following his recent meetings with Chinese leaders.

We need to make our voice heard now!

  • To secure from Wen Jiabao a promise to allow independent access the 11th Panchen Lama, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima.
